The Five Best Countries TO Move To For Retirement
Retiring in a different country is gaining popularity. Below are five of the best countries to seek retirement.
Costa Rica
Mild climate, breathtaking landscapes and beaches draw retirees(退休人员)to Costa Rica. The country readily welcomes immigrants and offers a simple residency process. With a monthly income of at least $ 1,000 per month from Social Security or a similar source, people enjoy a high standard of living at a much lower cost than the U.S.
Malaysia
Retirees who choose to make Malaysia home will appreciate its rich culture and attractive scenery. Moreover, the country offers modern facilities at modest prices. Immigrants enjoy convenience and comfort in their daily life. You will find lowcost rental units, delicious street food, and various shopping malls.
Mexico
Because it’s close to the U.S. , Mexico draws more than a million American retirees to its borders. Increasing immigrant communities enjoy seaside living and conversations with friendly English speaking locals. Plus, legal residents over the age of 60 receive airline, grocery, and restaurant discounts.
Panama
Gentle ocean wind takes the heat out of hot year round temperatures, which has been the chief attraction to foreign retirees. Beautiful beaches and a booming economy also attract retirees to Panama. An income of $2,000 per month covers modest living costs. Furthermore, the country offers discounts to retirees with a special visa.
Ecuador
Lazy coastal towns, sunshining hot spots, and nature filled views wait for immigrants seeking a carefree lifestyle. Public transportation costs in Ecuador make owning a vehicle unnecessary. A bus ride only costs 25 cents and taxi rides will run about $3.

(2019·河北保定模拟)Given the recent interest in green buildings in the media, let’s think differently. Instead of focusing on increasing the supply of energy, what if we focus on reducing demand?
Can we start with ending the open door practice of street front shops? While cool air from these shops is refreshing to pedestrians, it carries a cost. Energy is used in the air conditioning process.
So it must be possible to look for changes in regulations that would encourage more energy saving designs. For instance, if we fix ceiling fans, air conditioning homes could surely be avoided for part of the year. Ceiling fans use far less energy. They were in a year air conditioners could stay if ceiling fans were fixed.
In homes built under the smallhouse policy in New Territories, the ceiling may be too low for ceiling fans. If the 9 meter maximum building height regulation were relaxed, ceiling fans could be fixed to reduce energy use. Current thinking in sustainable building design and operation involves integrated(协调统一的) design, that is, bring together all parties to create a building with better performance that achieves energy reduction.
For integrated design to succeed, all parties must come together and think beyond each person’s circle of influence. Better solutions are impossible to avoid with integrated design. Buildings would no longer be engineered after the basic architecture was built. Positive project outcomes may include reduced air conditioning load, reduced power use for electric lighting, and a reduction in the amount of materials used.
We need to ask if we are ready to look beyond our own small circles and seek an improved approach to building design. By that I mean an integrated design resulting in more sustainable buildings.
8.What’s the author’s attitude towards the opendoor practice of the street shops?
A.Supportive.
B.Disapproving.
C.Optimistic.
D.Uncaring.
9.Why does the author suggest fixing ceiling fans?
A.To follow an old practice.
B.To help reduce energy use.
C.To completely replace air conditioners.
D.To help cut down on daily expenses.
10.What’s the key to making sustainable buildings a reality?
A.All parties should get started at the same time.
B.The basic architecture should be finished first.
C.Proper design and performance to achieve energy reduction.
D.Seeking the small house policy and some successful architects.
11.What would be the best title for the text?
A.Waste less, live better
B.Goodbye, air conditioning
C.How to reduce the energy cost
D.Green buildings call for integrated design

What Makes a Good School?
I’m a parent of two elementary students. The experience that my children are going through now in the elementary school is so different from mine when I was at their age. What I think of a good school is communication between teachers, students and parents. __1__Parent teacher communication guarantees that a child is educated in the same way and in turn a child will build special bonds in communication between their teachers and parents.
__2__My children return home telling me that their teachers ignore their questions when they raise their hands and don’t talk much. On the other hand, I feel the same when I write notes to school. __3__This is telling me there is a lack in communication from the school teachers nowadays as their life is so overwhelmed by the over crowded schools we have in the US.
However, choosing a career in education is not just for a good job. A teacher should really have heart in touching every child’s life. __4__Even now, I still remember all my elementary school teachers’ names.
__5__The answer lies in the fact that they spent every minute of their precious time helping me and answering all my questions with patience. When you have teachers who are willing to spend time for any child and communicate with parents, it is what I consider a GREAT school for a child to attend, not just GOOD.
A.I don’t get any response from the teachers to my questions, not even a one word response.
B.There are different ways of communication, according to different cultures.
C.Why is that?
D.Strong communication is very important to a child’s education.
E.I feel that schools nowadays don’t communicate with parents enough and neither is involvement.
F.My elementary school teachers all touched my life.
G.What do you think of it?
